Teaching Development

Teaching Certificates

“Jason put all his abilities into making the class excellent and ensuring those in attendance had the resources and materials they need to succeed.” – Trent University Student (2015)

I have earned several certificates to improve my teaching skills, to meet student needs, and to better understand the evolving nature of higher education. To obtain these credentials, I attended workshops on course design (assessment, learning outcomes, learning activities), online learning (conferencing tools, multimedia, learning management systems), and teacher-student relationships (conflict resolution, student development theory, mental health issues).

  • Instructional Skills Workshop Certificate, Centre for Teaching and Learning, University of Western Ontario, 2020.
  • Course Design Fundamentals Program, Educational Development Centre, Carleton University, 2020.
  • Student Support Certificate, Office of Student Affairs, Trent University, 2014.
  • TA Program in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education Certificate, Centre for Pedagogical Innovation, Brock University, 2013.

Professional Development

“[H]e puts a lot [of] effort, time and energy into his teaching.” – Trent University Student (2014)

I have attended several conferences, workshops, lectures, and webinars on teaching, libraries, and information literacy. These opportunities for professional development have allowed me to explore subjects such as experiential learning, citation management tools, accessibility issues, and working with Indigenous students.
